SII Drives Digital Transformation Through AI Literacy And Productivity Workshop

PT Semen Indonesia International (SII) continue to strengthen the readiness of its people in navigating technological developments and changes in the business environment through the AI Literacy and Productivity Workshop. The workshop was held at The East, 18th Floor, Jakarta, on Monday, August 10, 2026.

The workshop was designed to broaden participants’ understanding of how AI can serve as a co-pilot to enhance productivity, improve the quality of analysis, and support more effective decision-making, rather than simply being used as a tool for searching for information or generating documents.

In his opening remarks, Acting President Director of PT Semen Indonesia International, R. Trisandi Hendrawan, emphasized the importance of ensuring that the company’s people are prepared to keep pace with technological developments while ensuring that technology is utilized in ways that create tangible value for the company.

The workshop featured Khairul Ummah from PT Linxbrain Cemerlang Indonesia, who served as the speaker and Digital Transformation Expert. The session encouraged participants to view AI from a broader business perspective, covering various applications including prediction, automation, detection, assistance, and consultancy. These capabilities can be applied to day-to-day work activities according to the specific needs of each function.

One of the key competencies highlighted during the workshop was AI Thinking, which refers to the ability to utilize AI as a partner in the thinking and problem-solving process. Participants were not only introduced to prompting techniques but were also encouraged to understand the importance of providing the right context, data, task, output format, and guardrails to ensure that AI-generated results are relevant and useful.

Khairul Ummah emphasized that prompting skills alone are not sufficient. Even an AI-generated output that appears convincing can still contain inaccurate information if the questions, data, or problem framing are not appropriate. Therefore, participants were encouraged to remain actively involved in the process by conducting analysis, evaluating assumptions, identifying root causes, and validating AI-generated outputs before using them as a basis for action.

The learning session also introduced the concepts of Business Intelligence (BI) and Market Intelligence (MI) through the Decision-First Intelligence approach. This approach encourages the analytical process to begin with identifying the decision that needs to be made, followed by determining the key questions, required evidence, necessary analysis, and actions to be taken.

In addition, participants were introduced to the DeCiSiFA Thinking Framework, which integrates Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, Systems Thinking, First-Principles Thinking, and AI Thinking. This framework encourages participants not to rush into finding solutions, but rather to first understand the problem comprehensively, identify its root causes, determine key leverage points, design solutions, and conduct experiments quickly and iteratively.

To reinforce their understanding, participants were divided into five groups based on their respective functions and roles. Each group was given a case study closely related to their day-to-day work and asked to explore how AI could be utilized to generate alternative solutions while also identifying potential risks and limitations.

Beyond productivity, the workshop placed significant emphasis on Safe & Responsible AI. Participants were introduced to various risks associated with AI use in a corporate environment, including data leakage, hallucination, bias, over-automation, security risks, and fraud. Therefore, AI adoption needs to be supported by appropriate controls, including proper data classification, masking sensitive information, using suitable environments, and implementing a human-in-the-loop approach.

A key principle emphasized throughout the workshop was: “Use AI, Challenge AI, Verify AI, then Decide as Humans.” This principle reinforces that while AI can help accelerate analysis and work processes, the final decision remains the responsibility of humans. Experience, knowledge, critical thinking, and human judgment continue to play an essential role in ensuring that technology is used appropriately and responsibly.

Through the AI Literacy and Productivity Workshop, SII is not only introducing new technology to its people but also encouraging a transformation in the way they think and work. AI is increasingly being viewed beyond its traditional role as a tool for information searching or drafting. Instead, it is being positioned as an accelerator that can support analysis, explore alternative solutions, identify risks, and develop recommendations.

The workshop is expected to serve as an initial step toward building a work culture that is increasingly productive, adaptive, critical, secure, and responsible in utilizing technology. Ultimately, the greatest value of AI does not lie solely in the sophistication of the technology itself, but in how it is combined with improved work processes, human thinking capabilities, experience, and judgment to deliver better decisions and stronger business performance.
